If all you are having problems with is email, Compuserve still supports
dial-up text-based email.  Most of my online time is on a Mac Quadra 840
now, but I still use my IIGS enough that I maintain old-style email access. 
I run Proterm A2 from Intrec (about $20 last time I looked), and use an old
Q-modem 2400.  It ain't real pretty, but it works.
