I am using the Spectrum package which covers a range of terminal-options,
among them VT100.

After trying to connect to cyberspace.org (former Grex) I get a receipt on
selected terminal-display (VT100).   The problem persists, trying to start
pine/elm/lynx results in generation of garbled characters. When exiting,
pressing 'q' and 'y' (yes)  the reproduction is back to normal.
