I remember trying that DOS at some point as well.  Drive 2 and drive 4
were set up as the two 400K "partitions" on a second 3.5" drive if you
had two 3.5" drives hooked up.

I didn't much like that way of dealing with it at the time as I only
had a single 3.5" drive and most software wouldn't let you put 3 or 4
in as drive numbers.

Just off the top of my head I can think of 3 DOS 3.3 clones that I
believe allowed using 3.5" disks as multiple 400K drives:  UniDOS,
AmDOS and OzDOS.  I never really used any of them, just tried them
out.
