Don't worry about the monitor--monitors protect themselves against sync
abnormalities.
And composite sync is directly usable as horizontal sync.
Vertical sync is just a squared-up version of low-passed composite sync.
Many monitors will process the vertical sync input to make composite sync
directly usable.
