Being a mainly software kinda guy, I'm happy to announce I have made a replacement null modem cable for my //c. I used the standard wiring as recommended in the CSA2 FAQ, but I used a CAT-5 cable this time and used the three extra wires as grounds. This should provide the cable a significantly better level of protection compared to my old ribbon cable hackjob.
Also for anyone novice to soldering (such as myself) I cannot emphasize enough how much better of a job you can achieve if you have a helping hands device to prevent the damn wires from moving while you get them in place. That and don't forget to clean your iron frequently. Also doesn't hurt to have a rosin pen handy for any stubborn joints that don't want to flow readily.
