I remember playing with Applesoft list protection a long time ago and had a program that asked for a password. If the user attempted to list the program there was a line that would hide the line containing the password. If the user figured out that line and deleted it, listing it again would have exposed the password but instead printed the line with the embedded ctrl-d "Init Hello" :).
I never gave that to anyone because it was too sinister but it was fun getting it to work. It reminded me of the tape going up in smoke on Mission Impossible...
