Very very true.  I'm surprised there wasn't a ram card that exposed bank-switched ram in the C8-CF pages in addition to slinky access.  There's something neat to be said for copying memory in/out of slinky ram though.  Namely, something I'm banking on (no pun intended), is the ability to use a slinky card to serve a really big stream of data.
