Probably of no relevance at all, but I checked my Commodore 64 version of
Hard Hat Mack. After loading it displays the title screen for about 10
seconds before moving on to the "attract" mode going through the levels.

Why would you look to see if you "can't find" it?? Surely it would be
better to look to see if you can find it. Must be a "glass half empty"
kinda person.   ;-)
