Re: NAUG Magazine collection - Videx card
Yes, it's an 80-column card - so sayeth the manual - it can do 18 lines x 80
chrs or 24 lines x 80 chrs. It's fairly early in the Apple II history;
after-all, it is addressing the need for 80 chrs & upper/lower case, so it's
likely got a somewhat narrow frame of usability in the Apple II history -
pre-Apple IIe, perhaps prior to the II+ for that matter. Not that I'm
attempting to disuade you, but if you're unsure if you can use this card,
since the manual only indicates a few software packages it can work with
(Apple PIE, EasyWriter, for example); I suggest it might possibly not be an
effective purchase in getting your old system up & running again. I'm
guessing here, but I'm thinking that it will probably be of more use to
someone who collects Apple II peripheral, parts, accessories, for the sake
of collecting & maybe exploring - but perhaps not as a solution to your
quandry. It might run just fine in your II+, I just don't know.
Yeah, if you're interested, make an offer - but this foray back onto the
comp.sys.apple2 group is mostly for seeing if someone wants my (partial)
NAUG collection, perhaps to supplement theirs.
Thanks for asking.
As well, I'm not savvy enough to answer your other questions. I know my own
hardware & software, but there'll be others that can likely assist you with
answers. Not avoiding answering - just don't know...
My NAUG magazines can hang-around for a while yet - I can bluff my
sweetheart with the ol' "I'm waiting for an offer" routine & hang-on to them
longer. I'm not going to lose sleep if I'm 'forced' to keep them! ;-)
All the best.
