I am trying to verify that the expansion memory in my 128EX is working
correctly. I had the impression it emulates a Ramworks-style banked
expansion, but none of the AE Ramworks utilities appear to recognize it.

Can anyone advise what method it uses (not documented in the owners
manual)

and/or what utility would be capable of testing it?

$Cn0A was the standard test entry point of the Memory expandable IIc
($C40A
specifically) and the slinky ram card ($Cn0A).
Long shot but worth a try perhaps?

Found the Laser 128EX technical reference manual. It would appear this
machine does emulate a slinky/IIc style memory expansion.
So I would try $C50AG and see if they copied the memory diagnostic code.

It is, and they did :-). Thanks to all who responded - both public and private.
