Sure, but why bother? Years ago, I changed out my accelerator's 65c02 for a 65802 dreaming of the next-gen 'enhanced and extended' instruction set software that was going to become available (but never materialized). There was zero improvement in performance compared to the original 65c02 and no benefits.

Lots of people have replaced their blown 65c02 with an '802 or '816 in a pinch.
