maybe i'm dumb but does this not fall under the "abandonware" or vintage

There's no such part of the law. "Abandonware" is not a real legal
concept. It's basically a way people make themselves feel better about
breaking the law in cases in which very few people are likely to
object.

well i'm involved with an emulator project that works within such

www.enb-emulator.com

IF the parties that be contact you that is one thing if your ignored like in the prev posts and it is non-profit to restore/improve it is something else

but yeah it is plenty grey...but as long as you don't make a buck off it
and show you have tried to contact whomever you should be ok (anyway that is what is stated on all the old driver board sites for clones...and
other such abandoned drivers etc...contact us if you have a problem

but if we went by your logic i'd never be able to 'copy' the driver for
my bubble memory card (hint) in order for it to run....or you'd never be
able to reverse engineer something as an emulator

anyway don't wanna start a war here but that is my view

anyhooo........(suddenly lusts after a bubble memory card driver)
