Sometimes, the old method (changing ChgOppStr at $d2 to a negative number) still fires off and instead of immediately dropping dead, the hit is registered and you see the cool "POW" special effect appear before the corpse falls down. Considering this occurs after clicking on the guy, it's a pretty tactile sensation when it happens.

Doors and gates are considered transitional objects and are tracked in the TRLOC, TRSCRN and TRDIREC arrays found from $B600 to $B640 in AUX. So I think, if I read it correctly, is I just have to increment the "numtrans" variable (I think it's $96 in the aux zero page, but I'm still trying to track it down) and then set the appropriate values for TRLOC (will be 0-29 depending on what is clicked on), TRSCRN (the current screen, that's an easy one!), and TRDIREC (Direction 1 == open)

I want to thank you very much for my argument against ASM heh
though seriously interesting work, I am usually not a cheater at games
(though I will exploit the hell out of a hole) this does open up the
entire game to those who stink at it (myself included), if nothing
else to bring closure
