Looks like they might have just fixed it. I've suddenly got a burst of
messages from Google Groups, some going back five days.

As this is the second time Google has stuffed up in the same way, there
is more incentive for those using Google Groups to switch to a real
Usenet server and client software. If your ISP no longer offers news,
there are free servers out there, such as eternal-september.org. (They
don't have binaries, but I haven't cared about binaries groups for about
twenty years.)
