Yes. Unless you are using software which automatically recognizes it, the
RamWorks 3 needs Ram Driver software to initialize, i.e., "put up" the Ram disk
so that it is usable as a disk drive. This makes it similar to a hard drive,
but it evaporates when the computer is shut off. You can back it up to use it
again and again. You can get the Ram Diver and backup/restore on
(a) The Applied Engineering software which originally came with this card
(b) Prosel 8, whose Ram Driver is actually preferred over AE's
(c)SpellCopy v2.3, an AppleWorks utility which includes AE's Ram Driver on the
disk (no Backup/restore) .
