It sounds like you may be having an issue with the FSTs not being
installed.  The FSTs allow GS/OS to read other disk formats like Dos33
and HFS for Macs.  Pull up your install diskette and put them in or just
drag them from the installation diskette into the system folder of your
boot disk.  I have mine set up with all the FSTs and my IIgs can read
IBM, Mac, ProDOS, and Dos33 diskettes.
