That's indeed lousy! Any decent OS should should support _all_
built-in devices of the computer! I cna only think of two possible
reasons to not do that:
1. Sloppiness or laziness - the OS implementor thinks it's "too much
work" to do that. If so, he probably thought it was "too much work"
to do a lot of other stuff as well, and the end result is likely
an inferior product.
2. Ideological reasons - the OS implementor thinks you "shouldn't"
use the floppy, instead of leaving that decision to you. In that
case you're sort of buying a religion instead of an OS.
