This is what always got me about any "Service Release" v.x.

Just about the time we'd get NT 4.0.x semi-stable (that in itself is a
joke), another service release/pack/patch came out we had to apply to fix
another one of Microsoft's screw ups.

They write bad code. Period. They always have and they always will, because
people buy their trash *no matter what*.

And that's the sorry "state of the industry" a monopoly festers. And don't
think Gates doesn't know it. Feign security issues publicly (big, fat PR
ploy) and continue with complete indifference behind closed doors.

Microsoft's bottom line position? "You'll buy our sh*t because we've made
it so you don't have a choice, so sit down and shut up".
