IIGS drive + Pmac 1.44mb drive

Hi, I'm an enthusiest restoring my beloved old IIgs. 2 issues.

1 Disk drive

It's mangled. Heads were bent. :( I've tried putting a power mac 1.44mb
drive in it and hoping it'd work as a 800k, but nada. Is it possible to
get it to work by modification?

2. memory
My old clunker has 512kb ram. Is it possible to modify it to accept
more? I've seen people discussing scsi drives. Is it impossible to track
down a controller? What would something cost?
