(Testing done using Mandrake Linux 7.2, nfs-utils 0.3.1-0.6.x.1 Mac
8100, Apple IIgs sys 6.0.1, GatorShare 3.0.3x4)
Problems with Apple IIgs or Macintosh accessing GatorShared Linux NFS
server (in no particular order)
Login name sent to NFS server is case sensitive
GatorBox cannot directly access shadowed password files.
Didn't work after pwunconv either.
(Linux's encryption may be different than Sun/UNIX)
Neither setting up NIS/yp or pcnfsd systems seemed to help.
Need to setup a separate "password" file on the NFS server with a
blank/no password.
(have to configure the GatorBox to point to the new file)
Problems with specifically Apple IIgs accessing GatorShared NFS
servers
User needs a patched AppleShare CDev for the GatorBox's AFP 1.1 server
GatorBox's implementation of AppleSingle/Appledouble doesn't preserve
Apple II file information.(GatorShare assumes Macintosh and Finder
Info)
Final result...
The best Apple IIgs - GatorBox - Linux support is via netatalk
Versions 1.4b2+asun2.1.3 or lower. Later versions don't save the
resource file length unless patched/recompiled.
