I thought that was in one of the early models of IIc, if not the
earliest, and they removed that code in all later models including the
IIc Plus.

You also didn't mention that they were not sold outside of North
America.  Of the relatively few that were sold, most were sold in the
United States which is why I, living in Canada, have never seen one in
person.
