Jack, this is a very good sign that there is only a trivial problem.
I would not do anything hasty, like re-partitioning! ;-)

It may be as simple as boot order, as suggested by another poster,
if the SCSI card is not in slot 7, since the floppy controller is usually
in slot 6, and it would stop the Apple boot scan.

If the SCSI card _is_ in slot 7, then the problem may only be that
the boot block (0) of the first partition is clobbered. The first thing to
do in that case is to re-write block 0 using a disk editor, like ProSel's
Block Warden, with a known good block 0, such as the one on your
ProDOS floppy. Always _read_ the block first, just to see if it is
really a bad boot block or something else (?).

Odds are good that ProSel is already on the hard disk, since it made
life with a hard disk so much easier.

Yet another possibility is that the boot partition has been set to a
partition which does not contain a boot block (unlikely) or system
software (more likely). Depending on the kind of SCSI card, there
may be a utility which sets the boot partition. The utilities for the
card and disk may be tucked into some subdirectory on the hard
disk, so some looking around is in order.
