You can look for a program called CrossWorks. You use a cable to
connect a PC and an Apple via the serial ports. You then run the
program on both the Apple and the PC and it allows you to transfer
data files back and forth.
For example, an AppleWorks WP file can be transferred to WordPerfect
and text files. The 2.0 version of the program would also allow you
to convert to MS Works format.
I believe the program is no longer under copyright but I am not
entirely sure. As far as a cable is concerned, I believe you need a
null modem cable.
