I think the problem may be that people here don't know what you mean about
getting a DOS prompt. (AppleWorks files are ProDos based, not DOS, an older OS
on the Apple II). There are many ways of transferring AppleWorks files to a PC
or Mac. Some have already been mentioned in this thread. If I can help you
