THANKS to everyone who responded.
I already had GS-Shrinkit up and running, so Rubywand's pointer to
System 6.0.1 in SDK format was the easiest way to go. I downloaded
the files on my PC, copied them to the Mac, the from the Mac onto
ProDos diskettes, then did the floppy shuffle on the IIgs to expand
them onto 800K floppies.
I still wanted to see if I could get the .sea.bin to work, however,
since I was so frustrated. Also, I wanted to see if I could solve the
problem of downloading StuffIt Expander in .hqx format, but having
nothing on the Mac to decode .hqx....
Will's earlier suggestion of TransMac for Windows
(http://www.asy.com/) was the trick. It correctly translated the
.sea.bin into .sea, and wrote them to a Mac floppy. From there, I
copied to the Mac hard drive, double-clicked to extract, then used
Disk Copy on the Mac to make the floppies from the extracted images.
TransMac also correctly handled the .hqx decoding, so I now have
StuffIt Expander on my Mac as well... The registration fee for
TransMac is quite steep (well, to me it is) at $64.00, but it
definitely worked just fine.
Thanks again to all replies! System 6.0.1 lives! Now on to HyperCard
(well, once I get my hard drive working....)
