Hey everyone,
Well, I just got my Gatorbox CS, and I'm eager to try it out. The Gatorbox
has an 8 pin DIN serial port on the back labelled as "Serial", as well as an
8 pin DIN port labelled as "LocalTalk". A few people have been helping me
out (Hi Marsha and Menace!) but I thought I'd toss this question out to the
entire group to get larger consensus before I spend a lot of frustration. I
am wondering if I can just hook a regular Imagewriter serial cable from port
1 on my IIgs to the Gatorbox, and have it work properly. Can anybod tell me
if what I propose seems right (from the hardware perspective... configuring
my PC is another issue altogether!!)
IIgs <--1--> Gatorbox <--2--> PC
"1" is an Imagewriter printer cable from the printer port (port 1 set to
"Appletalk" in the Control Panel) to the LocalTalk port on the Gatorbox.
"2" is a regular bit of BNC ethernet, properly terminated of course.
Does that seem like it should work, or should I get real LocalTalkcabling
for number 1?
Thanks!!
