What a great story! Gives me inspiration to get my Transwarp working (it
didn't come with the cable/chip). I continue to be amazed at the number of
women on this group - I keep getting help from people called Marsha and
Mary. It's very disconcerting!! :) I wish my wife was as into the old
hardware as some of you gals!

listening to the rhetoric of the friend with a pc that you can't do 56K so
you waste your money buying a 56k modem. So I bought a 33.6k modem. It was
quite a bit cheaper than the 56k so I thought I got a good deal. The
problem was when I started working with Spectrum which controls the port
speed, I discovered it jumped from 19.9k to 38k. Supertimer said I could
use 38k with the 33.6 modem and that was true as far as surfing we

56k. I don't know if it's a true 56k, but it'd definitely faster than 33.6.
So far so good. I am so awed. As many times as my hubby and son complain
about the bad phone lines and the 26.4k of the pc....the shell account or
whatever is different for the GS works many times better.
