It should, because it just writes the image exactly to the disk. When you
copy the image on your desktop, it uses the Mac Finder to do the job, which
evidently adds that other stuff.
I have done this myself, and it worked, though I used a IIci running 7.5.5.
I can't remember which version of DiskCopy I used. I think I formatted the
800K disks on the IIci, selecting the ProDos option (the disks were
originally PC 720K formatted).
I have heard other say as Mark does, that it's best to format the disks in
the IIgs, but in my case, I had no boot disk for the IIgs until I created
one with the Mac.
