Once you have the card driver off the ROMdisk you don't need anything else for data CDs.
Have you tried going into the ramfast utility program and under SCSIUtils, checking if
the card sees your drive. If it does, click on the drive and see if the CD is listed as Active

I make the partitions any size with the ramfast software if I'm planning on making them HFS.
After I'm in GS/OS I initialize them HFS. If they're in ProDOS format then all I'll see is 32mb.

Which make anf model of CD player do ypu have?
