It's odd that just using the computer for a few days and, then, doing
the Self-Test would leave you stuck this way-- i.e. always starting up with
the Self-Test. (By the way, what happens if you do a Control-Reset after the
"System Bad" message?)

All of the following fix tries are with power OFF.

As has been mentioned, if the two main joystick buttons (PB0 and PB1)
are closed or the socket is messed up so that the button inputs look
"closed", then, your IIgs is likely to believe you are pressing OpenApple and
Option; and, you would get sent to the Self-Test upon power-up.

One thing to check is that nothing is plugged into the 16-pin joystick
connector on the motherboard. (This connector is located near the back right
area near the video output. Usually it is empty and not used on a IIgs unless
you want to use an older joystick or some special extender.) If anything is
plugged in, make a note about its orientation and unplug it. Try starting up
your IIgs.

If your battery is the removable kind in a holder, make sure it is
correctly inserted.

If the problem does not seem to be any obvious mess-up with the joystick
inputs or the keyboard or battery, a fairly good fix try is to scootch-up and
re-socket every socketed IC on the motherboard-- you will need to remove the
power supply.

Since the IIgs originally seems to have worked okay, it may be that
moving it around, plugging in stuff, etc. led to one or more poorly socketed
IC's losing contact on one or more pins. This could result in false PB inputs
and/or other errors which might send you to the Self-Test.
