It is generally refered to as the Mach microkernel, and it is a product
of Carnegie Mellon University -- not NeXT.  (The implementation Apple
used may be from NeXT, but that does not mean that they created the
microkernel.)

Agreed, somewhat.  OTOH, my present interests in the Apple II computer
extend well beyond my exposure when I was younger so I believe that it
goes well beyond nostalgia.  But it was nostalgia, and a summer job,
which uncovered my interest in older systems.
