Congratulations, with success like that you now qualify as a technical
wizard on your particular Apple compatable. Pretty soon you will be offering
free advise to others :)
Unsocketed chips are a real pain on the later II's like the IIGS and
Platinum IIe. I fixed a ROM-3 not so long ago, but unfortunately had to
desolder about 10 RAMs before I got it. I really wanted to socket those
RAMs, but lack of 18 pin IC sockets on a Sunday prevented me from doing so,
and I still had to proove the fault by soldering the good ones back in. So I
am likely to have to go through the hell again at some point in the future,
except next time I will be prepared.
