Funny that just _hours_ after posting that I should come across
an Apple 300e Plus CD-ROM on my way back home. :)
Needless to say I bought it (along with a Mac LC 475, Mac
SE keyboard and ADB mouse II) and now have it hooked up
to my RamFAST. The good news is it's recognized, treated as
a removeable device (yay!) and seems to read all my CDR's on
hand. Though getting it to play audio CD's may be a bit tricky
unfortunately (anyone have success with the 300e Plus?).
I was right about the way the HS.FST treats filenames. It
abridges naming to 8.3 characters in the same way MS-DOS
does when dealing with long filenames, plus a ";1" suffix on
each file rather like VMS. However, I cannot access any
files or folders with > 8.3 character. I'm assuming that if I can
find Dr. Bazyar and install it, this problem will be solved.
