Re: Your first A2.

Yes, I still have it and use it nearly every day, a 1986 Platinum //e!

Yesterday, I compiled the spelling words used at each grade level for mastery
and, using AppleWorks3 and PublishIt!4, created single sheet, quick reference
spelling cards for students for the coming year. I'm also working on the next
issue of my special education newsletter to staff (AW3 and PI!4 again!).

The first computer that I bought, my //e is still evolving--and that's after
telling myself that I'd never sink another dime into it after I bought it for
$140 six years ago.

Actually, I'm going to be putting this one to the side shortly. I picked up
it's Canadian twin on eBay recently and am in the process of converting it to
QUERTY/DVORAK--the extra set of characters on the keyboard look cool.

	I still need to:

[] remove the transformer,

[] install the guts from a Switch-A-Slot in the left over space (this will
plug into slot 2, making this a pseudo 11 slot Apple //e),

[] figure out where to put the slot selector dial,

[] hook up the Bugg Power Supply,

[] install the micro fan to pull air through the old transformer's punchout in
the back plate while being powered off either the exposed power tabs on the
mother board, or the low voltage leads on the Bugg Power Supply,

[] install the membrane keys on the keyboard railing to allow Apple keys on
the right side of the spacebar

[] find a decent way to apply the DVORAK key placement symbols onto the
existing keys, possibly in another color -- ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Right now, I've been considering replacing the 200 Meg FOCUS drive with a
couple of daisy chained 100 Meg Zip drives (192 Meg).

P.S. Two months ago, I set up one of our custodians with his first computer, a
//e, and this month I'm setting up a IIgs for a former school classroom aide,
now returning to college to pick up her teaching credential. She, of course,
wanted an Apple II computer to help her write reports.
