Impact printers still have their uses. If you need to print multi-part
forms, they're the only game in town. The place where I work uses Okidata
320s and 320 Turbos, and those sell for about the same (maybe even more).
(As for me, I haven't fired up my Imagewriter (the original, not the II...it
turns 16 next month :-) ) in at least a year or two. The last time I used
it, though, it still worked like new. It probably weighs more than my last
two inkjet printers, combined. On a completely different tangent, does
anyone know if the Imagewriter emulator Apple provided for use with the
LaserWriter will work with other PostScript-compatible printers? If so, I
have a Lexmark Optra Color 40 now that I might be able to get working with
my IIs...)
