Usually, .shk archives download okay from ftp sites. (If your browser does
not know that .shk is a binary type, you may need to Shift-click on the file
name and select "Save Link As" to avoid having it download to your screen as
Text.)

The problem with downloading .shk (.sdk, .dsk, ...) files from http sites
under Netscape seems to be that the host site does not recognize the filetype
suffixes as binary types and, so, lets the browser deal with the files as
unknown types.

Evidently, Netscape defaults to treating them as Text, at least when it
comes to writing them to disk. So, line ender chars ($0D and $0A) get 'fixed'--
e.g. 0D becomes 0D 0A.

If you use the Uncook utility fairly soon after such a download, it will
usually succeed in restoring the file. For Uncook info and a download link,
click on "Download Help" at http://www.apple2.org.za/gswv/a2zine/index.html .

Asimov2 is now available in a .zip file in the GSWV archive Utilities
folder at http://www.apple2.org.za/gswv/a2zine/Sel/index.html .
