David,

Are you sure system 6.0.1 won't get rid of the icon?  I have
been running 6.0.1 for about a week and the second 5.25
went away when I told the finder to check for 5.25 on
startup.  I have two 3.5 drives, 5.25 drive and a RAM
disk.  On my desktop, Finder only shows open 3.5
volumes, the RAM drive icon, and the icon for my single
5.25 drive.  I didn't make any of the modifications that
you suggested.  My control panel is not set to My Card.
I am just a bit confused about your suggestion that it
won't go away unless you remove the driver.
