For the listing of the firmware, it just gave a bunch of random
stuff.  (I'm not quite sure what I'd be looking for.)  Is this getting
the firmware of the controller card or the drive itself?

What would good firmware code look like?

With the PR#6 command, the drive rattles and comes on and goes back to
hanging.
