I used an analogix display controller IC (9804) 1 off  $30bux ex hong
kong (unless someone in the valley can go and pick them up)  - This
chip does both display port and DVI or HDMI from classic 32 bit sync
data. After a handfull of I2C initalization bytes, we have our
picture.

Id be quite adamant this chip coupled with charlies work would be very
close to producing a desirable, somewhat modern video card for the
apple II's.
