DVORAK keyboarding on a //e--more info and more help, please

I picked up a Canadian Platinum Apple //e that has the keyboarding switch to
switch from English to French keyboard layouts.  The switch does indeed connect
to J19 on the motherboard, the other two-pronged male connector that looks like
the speaker connector.  

1.  Could the Keyboard ROM from a //c or Laser128 be used to provide the QWERTY
and DVORAK keyboards? 
2.  What about the Video ROM?

The IIgs has built-in support for Dvorak and several international
keyboard layouts (and corresponding character sets for display).  Go to
the "Options" page of the Control Panel.

In the case of the IIe, it would be necessary to burn a replacement
keyboard encoding PROM.  In the US versions of the IIe, you would have
to disable the QWERTY layout in the process.

With an international IIe, there is a switch under the front right
corner of the machine which selects between two character sets in the
video and keyboard ROMs (local and US English), so you could burn a new
PROM with the international half set to Dvorak layout (you'd probably
also want to duplicate the US character set into both halves of the
video ROM).

Thanks Roy, but I don't think there's much to be done there as I'm using a rev
B
motherboard. Changing to a later version is a major operation that I'd rather
not
undergo. Also one of the reasons I chose an earlier version is because my
burner'll
write 2764 EPROMs but not 27128s. Also this is a good chance to take a look at
the ROM code and see if any of it makes sense to me.

If the bowties & solder points on the underside of the keyboard do not have
that effect then replacing the keyboard ROM will do the trick.

If the keyboard ROM is the same as that in the Beige //e then the locations
in the ROM image to change are:

XY	ROMADDR
70	$118	(add 0 for caps lock, $200 for no caps, $400 for Dvorak, $600
		for Dvorak with no caps)
