Depends on model. There are three "models" of IIgs floating
around -- denoted by ROM version. ROM00, ROM01 and ROM03.
ROM00's were upgradable to ROM01, but not to ROM03 (at least
w/o a motherboard swap). Most of the "Woz" models you'll find
are ROM00...or ROM01 if they were upgraded.

ROM00 and 01 came with 256k RAM on the motherboard. ROM03
had 1Mb of RAM on the motherboard. Both models are upgradeable
(via RAM cards such as the AE GS-RAM or Sirius cards) up to
8Mb RAM.

In terms of peripherals, Apple IIgs'es mostly were sold as
bare CPU's...with a keyboard/mouse, cords, and manuals. The
IIgs has built in interfaces for a modem/printer (2 serial ports),
and for floppy drives (a Smartport) -- both are ports on the back
of the machine.

It'd be a good idea to get hold of a 3.5" disk drive, since
most GS-era software was on 3.5" diskettes. Also a 5.25"
drive for older IIplus/IIe-era software. For under $100 you
ought to be able to get a hard disk drive of some sort -- you'll
need that if you want to do much with GS/OS, the GS's enhanced
operating system.

Well, you can go into the GS' control panel mode (ctrl-open_apple-
esc) and go thru the menus looking at what it thinks is there.
