Look for the version number on the copyright screen as AppleWorks boots up.

You don't have to give it a pre-2000 date. Patches are available for all
versions of AppleWorks to fix a myriad of AppleWorks date problems. Send e-mail
with your version number (as seen on the startup screen) and I'll tell you how
to get the fix. (remove NoMail from my e-mail address.)

I don't know what this is. I just made a fresh copy from my original AppleWorks
2.1 disk, and it booted up fine on a Rom 03 with 4 megs extra. It said
'preloading...' then it landed at the main menu with no problems at all.
You may have a bad disk, or a disk that is patched with something that isn't
supposed to be there for your particular setup. If you order the Y2k update
from me, I will include a fresh disk of whatever version you have (no proof of
ownership required). Or I will give you a newer version if you have an original
disk and can prove legal ownership of this product.
