I have a small network set up with 2 Macs and 2 Apple IIs. I'm currently using
a Quadra 700 as a server. A IIgs is connected via it's built-in localtalk and a
IIe
via workstation card. Also a Mac G3 is connected via ethernet. The Quadra
runs Localtalk Bridge which allows it to have both the ethernet and serial
connection active at the same time. The Apple IIs can see and use the Mac
hard drives but not the the way around. One thing that surprised me was that
the Apple IIs could see the G3s hard drives on the ethernet connection. Felt a
bit strange reading and writing to multi gigabyte hard drives with my IIe. The
IIe can only use drives with ProDOS compatible names so I had to rename
my drives. If my Apple IIs didn't have hard drives I'd likely be booting over
the network.
