Open-Apple-Clear (same as Open-Apple-Control-X) is often used in UltraMacros to
go into debugging mode. 

Clear (also labeled Numlock on most extended keyboards) is also often used as a
macro key to toggle the keyboard between numeric and macro mode in AppleWorks 5
(at least, that's what I do). All of the keypad keys, including Clear, can be
user-defined as BA- (both-Apple) macros. If a user defined macro BA-Ctrl-X, he
has defined the Clear key, and can use it by itself to perform any AppleWorks
function. As I said above, I use it to toggle the keypad.

Jay, Bev's Free Patcher patches TimeOut Calculator so that the Escape key works
the same as the Clear key (nobody ever liked Clear, so we fixed it so Escape
worked.).

If you don't use AppleWorks, you don't need to worry about any of this.
