Drat. Thanks for the update. I've removed the FAQs refs to M.C. Howard.

     Just checked SPI ( http://www.spisemi.com/index.html ; 818-884-8000).
They claim to have the IC in several different speeds:

Part Quantity

D424400V-10 424400Z10 NEC 93
D424400V-60 424400Z60 NEC 22
D424400V-70 424400Z70 NEC 30
D424400V-70L 424400Z70 NEC 14
D424400V-80 424400Z80 NEC 111

"D424400V-80" is an exact match for one of the numbers jotted down in my GS RAM
III manual. Even so, a buyer should probably confirm that he/she is getting the
Zip package RAM-- i.e. the RAM chip "with the little feets all on one edge".
(Hmmm, guess it's too late to send in the warranty registration card. Doesn't
matter. The card has never had a problem.)
