Thanks everyone! I knew I'd get the answer here.

It appears to be from ProSel. I tried the ProSel restore utility and
it recognized the first disk as part of a full backup with error
correction and I could get a list of backed up files on it with the
"Restore Selected Files" option.

I hadn't even thought of ProSel. I used to use it all the time but
forgot it had a backup program.

Now I guess I'll find out how good ProSel's error correction is. I'd
be surprised if the backup set didn't have some bad disks in it.
