Re: Source Code for OS?
Paul, relax. It was a joke for heaven's sake! If you cursor up to the original
post, you'll see a smiley. The reply's were in the same sense, except for the
horror of school shootings, and there was still a joke in the silly comment
about customs. (Though the French do seem to be doing their best to keep ideas
out through their customs work....) When I was in college in Chattanooga
Tennessee (which is on the border with Alabama and Georgia) we had students
from Florida who were shivering in fur mufflers and heavy winter coats while
this Pennsylvania native was very comfortable in a wind breaker. I remember
getting a real laugh asking them what would they do when winter came, and they
replied with horror on their faces and in their voices, "You mean this ISN'T
winter?"
I used to skate (when younger) on the Pennsylvania canal (which parallels the
Delaware river, and runs through my parent's back yard, and is now the Theodore
Roosevelt State Park) as well as on a mill pond in the village where my father
and grandfather were born. I loved sledding and building snow forts and having
snow ball fights.
Even now, as an adult, I love winter camping, the challenge of how to keep warm
when the wind chill is 20 below zero (F).
So, lighten up. Don't be so deadly serious all the time. Learn to enjoy a joke
as a joke, rather than pick it apart so you can criticize each little detail.
You'll live longer, and enjoy it more.
