   I had a ProModem 1200A.  Used it originally in an Apple IIe (got it 
in '86), then in a Laser 128 (sidecar), then a IIgs.  Yes -- the phone 
jack is indeed on the "wrong" end of the card.  I just always had some 
slack in the phone line and let the cord hang run out the back of the 
IIgs, sitting there loosly.  Worked great.  Slot 2 is the proper slot, 
BTW.  After putting it in, in BASIC do a 'PR#2' and watch the primitive 
ROM-based term prog pop up.  Slick.

   ProTerm 2.x supported the modem fine.
