How did you check that your CD-ROM drive is/isn't recognized?

It may. The CD-150 is supposed to work fine with the Apple HS SCSI card.
There does not seem to be any info for using an Apple 600e on a IIgs. The
highest numbered Apple model mentioned in Stephen Davidson's CD-ROM info (see
ftp://ground.ecn.uiowa.edu/apple2/Faqs/R014CDROMIN.TXT ) is 300.
Things you can check on your SCSI setup are that Termination Power is
being supplied and that the last device on your SCSI chain is terminated-- i.e.
has "Termination" switched ON or has a termination pack attached.
Also, you would not want any two devices on the chain to have the same
SCSI device number.
As for drivers, my experience is limited to RamFAST. If you supply more
information-- like what version of GS System you are using, what cards are
plugged into your Slots, what other devices are on the SCSI chain, and the
drivers currently in your System/Drivers/ folder-- someone with Apple HSS card
experience may come up with suggestions on what drivers to add or remove.
