Your Tips for New Apple Users

If you were to give some tips and advice to a new Apple user, what would it
be? Assume this new user has any model of Apple, and is interested in
learning about nearly everything: programming in BASIC, using the Monitor
(but not assembly or machine language programming), printing, graphics,
networking, peripherals and setup, etc.

These can be simple one-liners, things that perhaps you didn't realize right
away.

Some examples:

- you can type ProDOS commands (such as CAT) in the Monitor
- always remember to boot DOS before writing a BASIC program if you want to
save it
- control characters do not get recopied when using the arrow keys
- using the semicolon to concatenate strings and variables is optional in
Applesoft
- drive 2 doesn't boot
- be careful when aligning the pins on the Disk II controller card
- remember to set Speed to Normal on a IIgs or the old games will run too
fast
